Neil Mackay

Senior Consultant

Neil Mackay is a senior executive with over 25 years experience who has worked across four different countries. His background and training is grounded firmly in finance, but also includes roles in General Management and Sales Channel Management.

Neil began his career in London working and qualifying as a chartered accountant. This was followed by transferring to Australia with a big 4 firm and further developing core accounting skills.

After secondment in Papua New Guinea the next phase of Neil’s career was working in the IT&T industry, for multinational companies, which included a secondment in Mexico.

Neil’s latest corporate role was CFO for a leading law firm in Australia. During a fifteen period Neil worked within the C Suite and helped guide the firm through a 700% increase in revenue. This included a hands on approach to building financial literacy across the management team.

Neil believes the expansion of financial literacy is overwhelmingly a significant value add within an organisation. Also given his experience across different roles has a broader perspective on how financial commentary and measurement should be communicated.

“As CFO of a rapidly growing firm, an important component of my role was to ensure there was broad understanding and acceptance of financial metrics and an appreciation of how this translated into strategic goals and risk management. Extending this knowledge and level of financial literacy to a senior group was one of my most important achievements.

Neil holds a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honours Economics and Accounting), is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
