Khai Phan

Managing Director

Khai is currently the Managing Director of Financial Training Australia and General Manager of Tribel Advisory. He is also the investment advisor to the Aon Charitable Foundation which supports a range of charities and worthwhile causes.

Khai started his career as a tutor for school students, conducting classes and one-on-one coaching on subjects such as chemistry, physics and mathematics. He takes pride in helping his students improve their knowledge and exam performance which will set them along the path towards a successful career.
After completing his university studies, he embarked on a career in financial planning, helping clients achieve their financial and lifestyle goals through careful planning, advice and sound financial analysis.

He worked as a financial adviser and practice principal in accounting and financial planning firms, including a stint where he set up his own practice and a paraplanning business servicing over 30 planners from a number of leading dealer groups and boutique licensees.

In 2007, he was head hunted to join AMP to run the Advice Solutions team to help implement new professional standards, improve advice processes as well as building more compelling advice propositions.

In 2010, he joined Citi to establish the financial advice division and introduce a range of initiatives to support international clients as well as more convenient services for the local clients. These resulted in record revenue for the business in 2013 and 2014. From there he joined HSBC and successfully transformed its wealth business by implementing an enhanced operating and pricing model which led to doubling of revenue over two years.

In 2017, Khai joined Aon as Head of Financial Advisory Services to head up their employed team of financial advisers. He consolidated the team from disparate offices to a unified team with a common purpose and consistent approach to advice delivery resulting in an improved employee engagement score from 50% to 76%. Following Aon’s decision to exit financial advice, Khai participated in a successful management buy-out of the Aon Financial Advice business to set up Tribel Advisory in 2019.

Helping the aspirational to grow, develop and accomplish their life goals is a passion and a source of inspiration for Khai as these are the future leaders that help make the world a better place.

In his spare time, Khai enjoys long distance running – preferably marathons – as this serves as a form of meditation and a way to reconnect with nature. He plans to complete a marathon in each continent before age gets in the way. He enjoys reading about history to understand how and why things are the way they are, perhaps with a glass of red from McClaren Vale in South Australia.

Khai has a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Finance and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of NSW. He has completed a Diploma of Financial Services and is a qualified financial adviser registered with ASIC.
