Antony Elliott

As a Financial Training Australia (FTA) trainer Antony offers insights from 40 years of financial experience, having worked across many industries in various corporate finance roles. Antony works with FTA having been the inhouse facilitator for FTA programs in one of Australia’s largest corporations. He found that very engaging and effective and so was delighted to be able to work with FTA in supporting their clients training needs.
Antony’s experience covers Financial Planning and Analysis, strategic planning, Mergers and Acquisitions. Treasury (including cash flow, foreign exchange, interest rate derivative and commodity management), and debt and equity capital markets,. Antony was also Managing Director of a High Net Worth family office and so has broad commercial experience domestically and internationally.
Antony’s industry experience is wide ranging. He has worked in logistics, manufacturing, property, agriculture, mining, aviation (both airports and aircraft), shipping and has even been involved in niche businesses such as firewood and piano retailing. As a result, he brings a wealth of anecdotes which illuminate the training materials for participants and which reinforce the more formal learnings. Having worked with entities of varying credit quality ranging from prime rated to workouts he is able to emphasise the importance of all levels of an organisation understanding the numbers.
Antony currently holds board positions on three For Purpose enterprises and chairs the Finance Risk and Governance committees of two of them. He has been Treasurer of a sporting club and now serves on the Finance Committee of another. He also has previous commercial board experience, predominantly in Asia. He provides advice and transactional support to clients undertaking M&A activity and supports clients other financial activities.
Antony is a Graduate Member of the Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Corporate Treasury Association and a member of CPA Australia. His undergraduate degree was in Econometrics and Operations Research and he has a post graduate accounting qualification. Antony speaks French and has studied Bahasa Indonesia, Japanese and Mandarin (none of which he makes any claim to speaking).
Antony has a small farm on which he has taught himself the basics of animal and land management. He skis, owns an underutilised sailing boat and indulges his young daughter.
